COMEX copper continues to linger around a four month low of $4.41 per pound on Friday morning in Asia although the counter stays almost flat over the week. Weakness in dollar overseas is seen keeping the red metal supported. Overnight equities ended mixed after President Donald Trump announced a 100 percent tariff on imports of semiconductors and chips but said companies that are building in the United States would be exempt. While tech-heavy Nasdaq added to Wednesday's strong gain, climbing 73.27 points or 0.4 percent to 21,242.70, the S&P 500 edged down 5.06 points or 0.1 percent to 6,340.00 and the Dow fell 224.48 points or 0.5 percent to 43,968.64.
