The domestic equity barometers traded near the day's low with modest losses in mid-morning trade. The Nifty slipped below the 19,650 mark. IT shares declined after gaining in the past trading session. At 11:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was down 219.41 points or 0.33% to 65,899.28. The Nifty 50 index shed 70.95 points or 0.36% to 19,645.50. In the broader market, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index lost 0.11% while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index rose 0.36%. The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 1,909 shares rose and 1,506 shares fell. A total of 171 shares were unchanged. IPO Update: The initial public offer (IPO) of Valiant Laboratories received bids for 36.19 lakh shares as against 76.23 lakh shares on offer, according to stock exchange data at 11:33 IST on Thursday (28 September 2023). The issue was subscribed 0.47 times. The issue opened for bidding on Wednesday (27 September 2023) and it will close on Tuesday (3 October 2023). The price band of the IPO is fixed at Rs 133-140 per share. An investor can bid for a minimum of 105 equity shares and in multiples thereof. Buzzing Index: The Nifty IT index fell 1.11% to 32,232.85. The index added 0.38% in the past trading session. Tech Mahindra Ltd (down 3.21%), Persistent Systems Ltd (down 1.13%), Infosys Ltd (down 0.97%), LTIMindtree Ltd (down 0.82%), Wipro Ltd (down 0.81%), HCL Technologies Ltd (down 0.67%), Coforge Ltd (down 0.63%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (down 0.59%), L&T Technology Services Ltd (down 0.48%) and Mphasis Ltd (down 0.07%) edged lower. Global Markets: Asian stocks traded mixed after notching some gains on Wednesday as an uptick in Treasury yields and oil prices dented investor sentiment on Wall Street. South Korea's markets are closed for a public holiday. US stocks finished the day mixed on Wednesday. Investors will watch for economic data on jobless claims, home sales and the GDP on Thursday, before turning attention to the latest personal consumption expenditures price index reading due Friday.
